Back from Baltimore

After a week away I'm glad to be back in my own time zone. I was in Baltimore for a training with Catholic Relief Services, which was quite informative and inspiring. While in Baltimore, at the suggestion of my friend Mary Sperry, I visited the Walters Art Gallery, which was about a fifteen minute walk from where I was staying. Amazing museum! In addition to the floors devoted to ancient Greek and Roman art, Renaissance and Baroque paintings and a separate gallery filled with sculpture and pottery from China, Korea, Japan and India, there was an entire section devoted to icons and western medieval art .

Here are some examples of the paintings and sculptures in the medieval section of the Walters.
